Blues Clues, 2 year old party My daughter loved to watch Blues Clues, so months before her birthday I purchased the napkins, plates, cups, pinata, and some party favors from Party City,
when they advertised their yearly 50% sale for character party items. The pinata was not actually Blue's Clues, but it was a blue dog that was a wonderful replica of the real thing.
Before the guest arrived, I placed blue card stock paw prints on the mailbox and on the driveway to create a path to the back yard. As the guest arrived, my sister took a Polariod picture of them next to a blown up poster size cut out of Blue attached to the fence. I used an overhead machine to enlarge a picture of Blue from NickJr.com. I colored it using oil pastel crayons and had it laminated. (My daughter still has it taped to the inside of her closet door.) Due to the heat we borrowed a huge tent for activites and eating. The children colored Blue's Clues printables from NickJr.com in the tent as we waited for everyone to arrive. We started with playing the Blue's Clues theme song, which was downloaded from the computer for musical chairs. The older children helped the smaller ones with this. My younger sister then did the Hokie Pokie with the guests from a downloaded version from the computer. The children loved it and played it over and over. We then used the same blown up Blue used in pictures to play pin the birthday hat on Blue. I copied the hats from NickJr. com and had them copied onto tag board and then laminated also. The last game was the bean bag toss. I took a blue bucket from the dollar store and used craft foam to make eyes, nose, mouth ,and ears like Blue. The bean bags were scraps of blue fabric filled with beans, with blue felt paw prints glued on. This was a cute, inexpensive, fun game for the children.(My daughter still likes to play with it.) After playing games, the children ate chicken fingers ordered from a local place, fruit salad, chips, bone shaped jello jigglers and blue kool-aid. The children had plastic Blue's Clues cups with lids, also caught on sale at Party City, that could be taken home. The jiggler recipe is on the back of the Jello package and the bone shaped cookie cutter was less than a dollar at Michael's craft store. After eating the children took turns hitting the pinata. I had a cake decoreated with Blue and Magenta with ice cream. The children were then allowed to play with water balloons, which the older kids used the blown up, laminated Blue as a target. When it was time to leave the children received white 5 in. plastic buckets (from a local party store for 25 cent each). I decorated them with Blue's Clues stickers and wrote their name with paint pens. I filled them with Blue's Clues fruit snacks, blue Jelly Belly jellybeans, Blue's Clues zipper pools and activity books. I also gave each child a blue chocolate Blue's Clues sucker. I found the mold at AC Moore and they also had the blue tinted chocolate. We placed their Polaroid picture onto a blue craft foam doghouse cutout which I wrote Leigh's Blue's Clues Party and the date with paint pens. The children and adults loved the party and I saved lots of money by getting supplies early while they were on sale.
