Puppy Party! Make invitations from plain white squares, add two ear-shaped flaps to either side of the square, glue wiggly eyes (from craft store) for eyes, marker for nose and mouth (with a red tongue hanging out!), and red ribbon for the collar.  Write the "Come to my Puppy Party!" information under the flaps. To make a tag for the collar, use pie tins, cut a circle out, fold sharp edges under and glue on red "collar." Then use a pencil to impress each guest's name on the tag.  Decorate using black and white streamers, white balloons with black and brown spots with ribbons tied like leashes. Create a doghouse from a large cardboard box by painting, cutting a dome-shaped hole and painting "Dog House" above the hole.  Guests take their picture in the dog house. When writing thank-you notes, include each child's picture.  Serve hush puppies, hot dogs, corn dogs, and "dog chow" (any mix of dried cereals).  Serve bone-shaped sugar cookies in (new!) plastic dog dishes with each guest's name printed in paint pen.  Guests make headbands out of paper, then glue "dog ears" on each side.  Use face paint to draw a black nose and freckles on each child. You can also make/buy dog tags or dog collars for each child to wear.  Play "Fido Says," "Pin the Tail on the Puppy," and "Biscuit in the Bowl," or "Doggy Charades."  Party favors can be placed in a "doggy bag" (plain brown bag with black spots made from markers) and can include:  bouncing balls, pound puppies, beanie baby puppies, stickers, extra sugar-cookie dog bones, etc.  Incorporate books by adding a small book about dogs as part of the gift.  For younger children, show "101 Dalmatians," "Lady and the Tramp" or "Clifford the Big Red Dog" videos.
