Camp-Out Party! For my daughter, Olivia's, 11th birthday party we had a Camp-Out Party at a nearby campsite ! I got some great ideas from here and added a few of my own! Here is how it all
went... For the invitations we went to the actual campground a few days ahead iof time, where we were having the party, and took some photographs. I shot some of tents, campfires, unique
looking trailers, and flowers. In the end we ended up picking a photo of a huge authentic Tee Pee which permanently sits on the campgrounds for our invite. I then bought a photo card making
kit from our local craft store and glued the photos onto the outside of the cards. I then typed out all of the details on the computer and printed them out on rustic green paper and instead
of cutting them out I tore them out to give a more rustic feel with the frayed edges, and glued them on the inside of the cards. They turned out fantastic and were a huge hit even with the
parents! The cake was another total hit! I went to disney.com and found a camp-out cake, which really ended up to be another tremendous hit! It features a green icing backgroung(for the
grass) with campers in sleeping bags around a campfire. The campers are made of iced graham crackers with a white or brown chocolate disc for a head, placed at the top of each graham
crackers, I then decorated them with gel icing. The campfire was made of pretzel sticks for the logs and yellow and red jube jubes for the fire effect. For games the kids were frenzied with
an evening bout of "Flashlight Treasure Hunt" I gave each of the kids a little battery run lanterns(you could use just regular flashlights too), and told them they were going to be
searching for loonies(gold Canadian one dollars) and One Hundrend Grand(which is where the frenzy came in!)... which of course were just the chocolate bars with that name! I really thought
the chocolate bars would have been the big hit... and don't get me wrong- they liked the chocolate bars, but.... let me tell you... they loved looking for the change! It was a riot to watch!
I also awarded prizes for the best marshmallow stick find during our nature walk (which really was ALL of the guests!). The prizes were glow-in-the-dark eyeglasses which they had to assemble. We roasted marshmallows and made s'mores. We also made Spider HotDogs, which are hot dogs that are cut on each end, with a knife, in an X so that when then are roasted they curl up and turn into "legs" which then resembles a spider! We, of course, told ghost stories! The kids were all prepared for it because I had asked on the invites, for everyone to come with some spooky stories to tell! For Breakfast I had a gigantic box of blueberry toaster waffles which I served with maple syrup and whipped cream. I also put out assorted fruits. Loot Bags were a lot of fun too! I ended up getting black pencil cases which had mesh fronts on them. In them I put themed candy and cheapie watches. They also had compass key chains attached on the outside zipper. I have numerous photos from the occasion and would not mind sharing them if you would like to e-mail me! louise.nicolaides@sw.ca I think this was the best party yet! Thanks again to everyone for some of the great ideas that helped me whip up a great party! Louise!
