Police party for a 5 yr. old My 5 yr. old son wanted a police party so these are the ideas I came up with.  Each child got handcuffs, a whistle, a badge and notepad with pencil. Then I covered old boxes from my husband job with construction paper to cover words.  I then pushed the top and bottom of the boxes to the inside, now each child has a car to stand in and drive.  the children decorated the boxes with wheels, names, a car number, lights and sirens. My son was the Sheriff since it was his birthday.  We had races with the cars and the kids pretended to pull over speeders and give them a ticket from the notepad.  If the child was arrested, he/she went to jail which I made out of 2 wardrobe boxes hooked together. I cut a door and made jail rails.  Then the kids were fingerprinted and put on an FBI Wanted Poster. I made a handcuff ice cream cake with 2 pie tins and made the chain with ho-hos or licorice can be used. The kids each got a piece where they could make their own sundae.  After presents were opened, we had a pinata.  I made the pinata with balloon, newspaper, flour and water. It was a police man head with hat on.  The candy was put inside with small toys and that was that.  My pinata broke open a lot easier than the  one I bought at the store last year. The kids loved it and had fun. Each child took home their handcuffs, whislte, badge, and notepad and CANDY!  No guns were even involved to keep it a safe and positive party.
