Tea Party Birthday
The birthday party theme we went for my daughter's birthday as a Tea Party. We decided that instead of having tea at the house we would all go out. Since the expense was going to be more than her "normal" birthday parties we also limited the number of friends she could invite. We decided that she would invite three of her very close friends, that way no one would be odd man out. Invitations: I bought hot pink cardstock (my daugther's favorite color) and I cut them into the shape of a tea pot. This was quite simple, you could find a picture online and print off and trace it or if you are a good artist then you might be able to draw it! Oh the front of the invitation it said: Tasty cakes and pretty clothes, Dresses tied with ribbon and hats trimmed with bows. Little dainty dishes and cups filled with tea… Then at the top on the inside it said: Marissa's turning ten come celebrate with us! I also attached a small tea "tag" with a string that told the girls to Dress Up and Wear A Hat. And then all the information was listed below: time, place, etc. We had all the girls meet at our house. I bought a piece of long (cheap) red fabric, (you can get this from Walmart, Joana's, or any place that sells fabric)and I had it laid out on the walkway all the way to our front. I used bubble machines to make sure that the fabric did not blow away so that each girl would be able to walk on it. Once inside the house I had a table set up with a hot pink table cloth and black acerssories (black confetti, etc). I also had a cookies that were in the shape of tea pots and cups on the table along with a cake in the shape a tea pot! Once all the girls were there we put a tiara (plastic one from party city) on each of them (only one showed up with a hat) and Marissa had an expensive one from David's Bridal or you can find one at other places. Anyway, then we loaded the girls in the car and all went out for a lunch tea! We arrived at the tea house which was decorated for the party, I had gone earlier and done this! When we came in each of the girls was given a feather boa we had hot pink and black--what a surprise! We had lunch at the Tea Shop and then we had tea--some of the girls actually had tea while the others just had lemonade or soda in a tea cup. Once we finished there the girls loaded back up into the car and we went to a local nail salon. EAch girl had their finger nails polished and there toe nails polished after everyone was finished we came back to our house and had cake and icecream and opend presents! It was a great party--but can be pricy! Favors--I made the favor bags out of white lunch bags--I ust folded the top to make it look like a tea bag and then attached a tea tag with a string that had the girls names on it. Inside, I put notepads, fingernail polish, comb/brush set, hair bands, body glitter, a pair of earrings (all the girls had pierced ears at the party), a tea cup and saucer (you can get the cheap plastic tea set and divide it up), and each girl also got a picture of themselves with their friends at the party. I had taken pictures through the party with my digital camera and my husband printed them off as soon as we got home! I bought small photo albums as well that held about 20 pictures and put the pictures in there--I put at least five pictures in each album! (The girls wanted to spend the night and have a scrapbooking party that night since we are really into scrapbooking as well--it would have been a cute idea but I was pooped--so I said Maybe Next Year!) The thank you notes that Marissa sent out were in the shape of tea tag with a small piece of string hanging: I stamped it with a rubber stamp and it said: Dear__________, Thank you for ___________________________! I really loved it! Love, Marissa It was really cute the girls loved it and it was nice being so SMALL!!!
