Tea party Birthday for boys and Girls 5 year old My daughter wanted to have a tea party for her fifth birthday. She was going to be inviting both boys and girls.  Myself, who loves to have tea with friends was very excited to plan this party.  Invitations were made by taking a picture of my daughter dressed in a pretty dress and hat serving tea from a tea pot to her teddy bear.  I then took this picture and made it into a 3x5 print and printed copies.  I then took vellum which you can purchase at any office supply store and printed on it, Please come to my birthday tea party, location, time, etc. At the bottom I wrote tea attire will be provided. I then cut these invitations to fit over my picture. Vellum in case you do not know is transparent so you could see my daughters picture underneath.  I put two holes in the top middle using a hole punch and then bought thin inexpensive lavender ribbon and tied it in a bow to hold the invitation together, they were then placed in envelopes.  Very easy, personal, and also inexpensive.  As the guests arrived I had pre purchased at a craft store the large straw hats people use for crafts.  In individual baggies I placed feathers and flowers of all different shapes and colors.  I had alreagy used a hot glue gun to glue lavender tulle around the hat and made a bow coming down the back. I also pre glued two pieces of tulle to the inner part of the hat on each side so they could be used to tie the bonnet under the girls chin. I had adults help the children because a glue gun is needed. For the boys, they made bow ties made out of black felt that i pre assembled with velcro closure in the back.  I cut out felt shaped polka dots in various colors on felt sticker sheets so all they had to do was remove the backing and place the dots on.  The boys also wore top hats that I purchases at a party supply store.  I also bought the black funny glasses with the plastic nose and large eyebrows that you can find as party favors, I cut the nose off and eyebrows, so they looked like plain black glasses. The boys looked adorable.  The girls also had white gloves which I placed together with a large plastic ring around the finger and then wrapped the bottom part of the pair of gloves with a long pearl necklace that they could wear.  They were all excited to get dressed for tea. Food consisted of apple juice from a tea pot , minituare peanut and butter sandwiches cut in shape of flowers, ritz crackers with bologna and cheese cut in the shaped of hearts and flowers on top, (similiar to a luchable, which kids love).  I also made chocolate chip scones with homade whipped cream, mini fruit cabobs, chunks of cheese with mini pretzel stick sticking in it, brownie muffins, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate covered strawberries.  The kids loved everything.  After every one ate, cake was served.  Games consisted of pass the tea pot (similar to hot potato), pin the tea bag in the tea cup(like pin the tail on the donkey). Every child received a bucket, which I purchased at target after easter which were very inexpensive. They were white with spring flowers all around.  In the bucket I placed bubbles, mini play dough, fruit roll ups, slide whistles, ring pops, and a plastc tea cup and saucer which I purchased at Birthday Parties express. It was a wonderful party.  My daughter wants to have another one!!
