My daughter, by age two, had been addicted to Wizard of Oz for well over a year so that was the theme of her second birthday.
We had a "yellow brick road"(a roll of yellow plastic table-covering double-stick taped to the entire driveway)which led to the "emerald city"(a green castle spacewalk). The party hats were 2 for $1 funnels which I spray painted with silver and hot glued ribbons to tie them on so they were all the "Tin Man". I decorate my own cakes but I am a novice so I bought a gift bag with all the characters from the Warner Bros. store. I cut it out carefully and laminated it. On the cake I had a blue sky, green grass and a yellow brick road and I placed the characters on it. I do personalized candy bars so I had Nestle Crunch with her name and date on it in "Dorothy's basket" complete with blue gingham ribbon. We had a red slipper piņata which I purchased from Birthday Express for about $11. And there was a "There's no place like home" doormat I bought on clearance from the Warner Bros. website for $7. Additionally I thought to have a Halloween decoration witch flying overhead. Play gather the apples with apple Christmas tree ornaments which I couldn't find in June. And I stuffed her stockings and put her ruby slippers from her old Halloween costume on them and stuck the legs under the shed with a sign that said "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead". The kids had a blast and she was beside herself...
