My 4(turning 5) daughter wanted to have a cheerleading party. So the first thing I did I enrolled her in a cheerleading class 2 weeks before her birthday (early gift). Then I asked the instructors if they knew anyone from the varsity squad that would be interested in coming in for an hour to teach the kids cheerleading things. If fact their was 2 girls that came in and did a wonderful job. We paid them for their time and it gave them experience in teaching.
For invitations we did paper megaphone with a cheer invite. (when i say (child's name) you say (age the child will be); when i say cheer you say party cheer-party; when i say (date of the party) you say (place of the party).
For the boys we gave paper footballs with their own cheer. It read D-E-F-E-N-S-E Defense take this ball to (child's name) party at (place). That was a big hit. I didnt stop there. At oriental trading I ordered pompoms and inflatable footballs. I also for the boys ordered a blowup football player that has net to catch footballs.
I also ordered from oriental trading foam magnet frames in cheerleaders and football players for the kids. They made them their at the party and I had another mom take pictures of each child with my digetal camera. I also brought my printer and printed the pictures of each child to take home and put in their frames they made.
For food we had hotdogs small bags of potato chips (consession stand food) and placed them in real megaphones I ordered from I believe it was www.shindgiz.com that the kids took home with them. I made a consession stand for drinks and had a friend work the stand.
For the cake I had a 1/2 sheet cake and cut it out to look like a megaphone. I decorated it with the color scheme we were using (pink and purple). Then I took cupcakes and frosted them and rolled them in edible glitter and coconut to look like pompoms.
For favors other than the magnet frames, pompoms, and megaphones; my husnabnd and I created a music cd with sport theme songs and some of todays top hits, and I printed a packet of cheerleading and football colorpages and created a word search puzzle (with the help of www.puzzlemaker.com)
