Pokemon Party -8yr- Pokemon Lollipops

I am planning a Pokemon party for my oldest son who will be turning eight.  There will be almost 20 children, ranging in age from one to eight.   When the children arrive, they will be greeted and given a Pokeball nametag (since some are family and some are school friends and won't know each other) and a temporary Pokemon tattoo will be put on their cheek or wherever they would like. 

As the kids arrive and settle in, I will have a table with Pokemon coloring pages, mazes, word searches, dot-to-dots, etc.  Once everyone has arrived, we will make a Pokemon craft using TP rolls found on a great web site on the Internet.  The children can choose between Butterfree (easier for the little ones), Golbat or Charizard. 

Once the craft is complete, we will break into two teams and set the timer for a certain amount of time (probably between 5 and 10 minutes) and go to two different rooms with an adult for each team (to write quickly) and see which team can name the most Pokemon. 

After that game, we will play "Who Wants to be a Pokemon Master?" using the format from the TV show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire".  I took several Pokemon toys my kids collected from Burger King and will put them in a bag.  Each child will reach in and take out and identify the Pokemon.  I made poster sheets for each one with four choices (some silly) and the pictures of two lifelines -- ask the audience (the other children) or 50:50 where I will cross off two wrong answers (it looks just like the show).  The kids can use both lifelines and each child will receive a prize whether they are right or not (I have a feeling there will be a lot of eager helpers!). 

After this game, we will have a Pikachu cake and cupcakes, and ice cream.  (Wilton has come out with a Pikachu cake pan that is really cute) 

After that we will open gifts (ours of course wrapped in Pokemon paper) and have a piñata shaped like the number eight (I could not find a Pokemon piñata and I'm not creative enough or inclined to make one!).  Since I do not like the frenzy of grabbing when the piñata breaks, the piñata will be filled with Pokemon loot bags with each child's name on it and the kids will help each other get the right one. They will be filled with my son's favorite candy choices as well as Pokemon fruit roll ups and Pokemon stickers.  I'm not sure who is more excited for this party, my son or me!  

I also made four types of Pokemon lollipops (Pikachu, Gengar, Squirtle and Charmander) using the Wilton candy mold. Those were a hit.  I also wanted to suggest one thing I would do differently with my game "Who Wants to be a Pokemon Master?".  It would be to choose harder Pokemon!  I was amazed at the knowledge these kids had about Pokemon.  I used figures we had around the house.  A better idea may be to cut pictures of the less-known ones and glue them to an index card.  Despite my begging the children to use their lifelines, only one child needed one.  The adults thought it was cute and of course beat me at shouting out "Is that your final answer?"  My son said this was the best party he has ever had even though we didn't go anywhere!
