Winter Party

My second son was born on December 6.  So for his first birthday I wanted a theme that represented the season but not too Christmassy.  I decide to have a snowflake cake and ice cream birthday party.

The homemade invitations were made out of iridescent paper and holographic snowflake sticker (from Oriental Trading Company).  The wording on the invitations were:  Cake and Ice Cream and loads of fun For little Anthony is turning one Please be on time and don’t be late Come to our house on December 8 at 3:00 p.m. the time will be please don’t forget to R.S.V.P.

For the favors I made Christmas crackers filled with little trinkets. I found white tissue paper with blue snowflake which I use to cover the crackers.  I got the cardboard tube and cracker snaps that give the crackers the pop from a company called Olde English Cracker.  For the boys I filled their cracker with one hot wheel car, tattoos, mini flashlight, lollipop, mini chocolate candy, and snowflake confetti.

For the girls I went to the Dollar Store and got lip gloss, tattoo, costume bracelet or necklace, hair barrettes, lollipop, mini chocolate candy, and snowflake confetti. Two of the baby guests received blow up animals deflated in their cracker.  At the Dollar store I also pick up blue glass mugs which I wrote each child name and filled with a packet of cocoa mix and a mini bag of mini marshmallows.

I also made giant snowflake cookies decorated with white icing and edible silver glitter. I put the Christmas cracker, the mug, and the cookie in a white glossy gift bag with each child name on the tag.

I decorated my house with lots of blue balloons with blue ribbons hanging.  Attached to the ribbons were tissue snowflakes of different design. When the kids came to the party they were led to a table that was set up with a snowflake picture frame craft that I got from Oriental Trading Company.  During that time I took Polaroid of each guest so that they could put in their frame.

After the all the kids finished their craft I served the Birthday cake and different flavored Ice Cream.  My son's cake was a snowflake.

After the cake and ice cream my husband gather together all the kids to play a question and answer game with the kids. The prizes were items that I found at the dollar store.  Each child went home with a prize.

Everyone said that they had a good time.
